India has an extremely high number of orphans and street children. The high rate of such children are often resulting from natural disasters, death of a parent, but children are also occasionally abandoned by their parents because they have no means of feeding or looking after them.
The poverty that grips many families in India perpetuates a vicious cycle. Because the income provided by the parents is so low (often less than the equivalent of $1.00 US a day), the children are required to work.

Sometimes the parents take out loans that they cannot pay back and as a result their children are forced to become bonded laborers; they are forced to work tediously to the employer who provided the loan producing tobacco rolls or other simple projects for long hours with no pay and abuse often takes place. Because such children are forced so young into the labor force, they cannot attend school. This lack of education ensures that children will never be able to find higher quality jobs and that the cycle of poverty will continue from generation to generation.
This is why Aid-2-Indi International provides a multi-faceted approach to helping such families in India. We work to provide not only food aid, health care, and shelter, but also to put a heavy emphasis on providing education so that children can escape the vicious cycle of poverty in India.
For example, Aid-2-India International provides support to a number of orphanages in India, and all the children in these orphanages are also given free education and schooling. Many children excel in their studies, and some even go on to study in colleges and universities in India. These include very competitive fields in India such as teaching, nursing, and engineering. Without help from people like you, these children would have never had access to such opportunities.
The pictures on the right and bottom show a visit by the Aid-2-India team to an orphanage to celebrate the Indian Independence Day. The team took sweets and made the day exciting and special for the children.
