Aid to support families living with Leprosy

Aid-2-India International works with families in providing support where family members have been stricken with leprosy (also known as Hansen's disease). Often when a family member has contracted leprosy the family will desert them and they immediately lose the ability to work or earn a living. As a result begging becomes the only means available to produce income.

These people are not able to live in the city and live together for mutual protection in the outskirts of town in the leper's colony.

The man who is pictured on the right is named Kannan and he lives in the leper's colony with most of his family. His ancestors have been associated with the colony on the outskirts of Bangalore for many years.

Our monthly visits to this colony helps to bring about encouragement and hope for the future. The people are always very happy to receive visitors.

We seek to provide the means for these people to be able to earn a living and to be reconciled with their families.

If you would like information of how you can help these people, please go to our "How to help" page.
